The problem

Problem locations move. Fixed cameras don't.

A city of Centralia's size cannot wire every lot, park and corridor that draws trouble, and by the time a fixed camera is permitted and powered the activity has moved. The department needed coverage it could put where the calls were coming from this month, and move next month.

The deployment

Trailers where the calls were.

Vorp Energy solar surveillance trailers were placed at high-activity locations across the city, including outside the police department itself. Each unit runs on its own solar array and battery bank, so nothing had to be trenched or permitted, and a unit that stopped earning its keep was towed to the next location.

Cameras on a 21 ft mast give officers a vantage no pole-mounted camera in a lot can match, and the units themselves, marked POLICE, are a visible deterrent before any footage is reviewed.

Documented result

Statistically significant, citywide.

513fewer criminal incidents in 2025 than the year before, a 17.8% reduction in total crime

Centralia's deployment of mobile solar surveillance infrastructure contributed to a citywide drop of 513 criminal incidents in 2025. The reduction is statistically significant across the whole area, not only at the camera locations.

Why it worked

Built for the way a department actually works.

Deployed in minutes

Tow it in, level it, raise the mast. No trenching, no permitting, no utility coordination.

Moves with the problem

When the calls move, the trailer moves. One tow, and the next location has coverage the same day.

Solar-autonomous 24/7

750 to 2,250 W array with a 2 to 6 battery stack keeps the cameras up overnight and through overcast weeks.
